Kaylee Bostic, BS Interior Design
Spring 2025 Graduate
MAY 5, 2025 - As a member of a military family, growing up, Kaylee and her family moved a lot, but when she and her family arrived in San Antonio, she determined this was where she wanted to plant her roots. Kaylee grew up in the surrounding UTSA area and knew that the college she had only lived fifteen minutes away from most of her life, had to be the place where she would continue her education.
After initially studying to become a history major, she decided to change her path and pursue a career in something she felt more passionate about. Kaylee enrolled in the Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design School of Architecture and Planning to pursue a degree in interior design. For as long as she can remember, she always had a passion for materials and decor, and through traveling, Kaylee was able to live in and experience a plethora of different spaces, which further ignited her passion for design and gave her great insight into how wildly creative and free designers could be in this field. Also possessing a natural eye for design, and throughout her time at UTSA, her skills were only enhanced and the path for her future began to take form.
Throughout her Klesse College journey, Kaylee was not only able to work with insightful professors with great experience in the design field but also form lasting friendships with other students on her career path. As a member of IIDA (International Interior Design Association), Kaylee was able to tour different interior design firms and get first-hand experience on what it is like to work in them. She was also able to work closely and collaborate with other interior design students, which further cemented her love for design and her UTSA experience overall.
Kaylee also became a Klesse College ambassador and was able to spend time volunteering at many engineering events while also learning more about each of the engineering fields. Through this ambassadorship, she has met other ambassadors who she believes have impacted her life in the best possible way. Coming from a military family, Kaylee also took on an opportunity working with the Center of Military Affiliated Students, which was a position that was both important to her and impactful to her journey.
As part of her Interior Design studies, she also spent a semester abroad in Urbino, Italy. Throughout her ten week trip, Kaylee was able to visit sixteen different cities across Italy, getting a first hand view of ancient and modern design principals alike.
“I had practiced and got back in touch with my love of drawing. I made lifelong friends and travel buddies, made memories that I will treasure closely, and found a new appreciation of the life I live currently.”
Despite her myriad of obligations, Kaylee excelled in her studies and was a staple of the Dean’s list throughout her time at UTSA. As a first-generation student, she hopes that her wonderful accomplishments and inspiring story of pursuing your passion can convince high school students and other college students to take the first step and follow their dreams.
“My time at UTSA has been a huge blessing in my life. I’ve been able to experience insane opportunities with attending Football championships, joining student organizations, working for the university, and meeting my lifelong friends.”
Kaylee will be graduating in May 2025 and is planning on getting her real estate license. In addition to that, she has also accepted a position as a project coordinator with Method Architecture.
