Co-op programs and internships allow students the opportunity to partner with local and national businesses to apply what they learn in the classroom in a professional setting.
Internships and co-ops have:
- A defined beginning and end
- A job description with desired qualifications
- Clearly defined learning objectives and goals, set forth at the beginning of the experience
Engineering the Future
UT San Antonio is training tomorrow's engineers. We're proud to recognize Ayantika Bose, who is working toward her PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Recently, Ayantika was a municipal engineering intern with Colliers Engineering & Design, where she drafted plans, prepared technical reports and analyzed utility and drainage data. She also supported hydrologic and hydraulic analysis for several drainage projects, contributing greatly to Colliers' teams.

Internships and co-ops can be identified as having all or some of the following characteristics:
- The possibility of the student receiving or not receiving credit (tuition fees and course enrollment apply in all instances of credit achievement)
- Being paid or unpaid (most internships for Klesse students are paid)
- Required GPA for enrollment and participation
- Educational agreement with academic departments within the specific universities and colleges
- Employment during the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters (multiple or alternating term employment takes place under both programs, depending on university and college standards)
