Approved Co-Curricular Activities (Option B)

Students may fulfill the Signature Experience requirement with an approved co-curricular activity in Internship, Research, Study Abroad, or Service Learning. Students must also enroll in the associated EID zero-credit course.

Pre-Approved Activities

  • Company Internship
  • Summer Internship at a National Laboratory or Government Lab
  • Undergraduate Research Program organized by a UTSA Center, Institute, or Consortium
  • Summer Undergraduate Research Program at an Academic Institution
  • Undergraduate Research Assistant
  • Klesse College Undergraduate Research Experience
  • Office of Undergraduate Research Fellowship
  • UTSA Education Abroad Approved Program
  • Engineering Without Borders Community Development Program

Alternative Activities

  • Propose an alternative co-curricular experience
  • Obtain approval from your Academic Advisor and the Signature Experience Coordinator

EID Zero-Credit Courses for Option B

  • EID 3100 – Signature Experience Internship
  • EID 3200 – Signature Experience Research
  • EID 3300 – Signature Experience Study Abroad
  • EID 3400 – Signature Experience Service Learning

Co-Curricular Timeline (Option B)

Students must:

  1. Obtain approval to participate in the co-curricular experience and provide supporting documentation.
  2. Register for the associated EID zero credit hour course.

Students also complete surveys throughout the semester and receive a Pass/Fail grade at the end.
