The UTSA Makerspace Machine Shop is home to everything needed for fabrication. Training and supervision are required to use all machinery in the Shop. When entering the Machine Shop, safety glasses and closed-toe shoes must be worn at all times. No hanging accessories, loose clothing, or hair is allowed.
The UTSA Makerspace 3D Printing Laboratory creates new possibilities for rapid prototyping and manufacturing with the latest technologies. Our lab supports active learning and creativity for the next generation of students. UTSA members can print while learning the process and working with experienced, passionate staff. We offer two types of 3D printing: Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) and Stereolithography (SLA).
The Makerspace offers a variety of hand tools for UTSA-affiliated projects. Items can be checked out for the day and must be returned by 5:00 PM. All items must remain in the Makerspace, and a valid UTSA ID is required for checkout. Please visit the Front Desk for assistance.
In addition to hand tools, the Electronics Fabrication Lab houses high-end electronics devices such as virtual benches, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and soldering stations. Some preliminary training may be required. Please visit the Front Desk for more information.
The Makerspace offers free locker rentals of various sizes for senior design teams and UTSA-affiliated projects. Please visit the Front Desk to register for a locker for the upcoming semester.
