Vision

We envision a future in which cultural heritage endures as a catalyst for knowledge and sustainable development, shaping resilient communities across generations.

Mission

Preserve the cultural heritage of places and design inclusive, sustainable, and resilient communities that reflect what people value through research, education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and community engagement.

History

The Center for Cultural Sustainability was established in 2011 by Professor William Dupont. The Center grew into a nationally recognized hub for research, education, and advocacy in the sustainability and resilience of heritage, garnering over $3.9 million in sponsored projects. Our unique strength is the implementation of novel methods of cultural resource management and the fostering of collaboration among UT San Antonio students and faculty, private industry, public institutions, and national and international partners. Dupont departed the University in 2025 but is still active on CCS projects as a Visiting Researcher.
