About Cultural Sustainability

The Center for Cultural Sustainability builds its work through strong, long‑standing partnerships with organizations committed to preserving heritage and strengthening communities. Our collaborators span federal agencies, local governments, cultural institutions, nonprofit organizations, and private industry—reflecting the wide reach and interdisciplinary nature of cultural sustainability.

Together, we have worked with families who steward historic legacies, national laboratories advancing preservation science, community‑based organizations protecting cultural identity, and agencies responsible for managing parks, waterways, and public spaces. These partnerships allow us to combine technical expertise with local knowledge, expand research opportunities for students, and support preservation efforts across Texas, the nation, and the world.

Our past partners include:

National Park Service, the U.S. Department of the Interior, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the World Monuments Fund, Argonne National Laboratory, the City of San Antonio, Texas, Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, the San Antonio River Authority, VIA Metropolitan Transit, the City of Boerne, Texas, the Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans, Mission Heritage Partners, the HemisFair Park Area Redevelopment Corporation, the Esperanza Peace & Justice Center, the Finca Vigía Foundation, Greystar Real Estate, RVK Architects, the Christman Company, and the Steves Family.
