The School of Architecture + Planning (SA+P) resides within the Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design (KCEID), created in September 2021 to identify and solve grand challenges where humanity intersects the physical world. KCEID combines the academic departments and programs previously housed under the College of Engineering and the College of Architecture, Construction and Planning.

Our programs possess a rich and successful history of transforming talented students into successful architects, interior designers, urban and regional planners, and historical preservation professionals. Our undergraduate and graduate degree programs leverage the intersection between theory and practice while offering students a critical approach that translates locally and globally. This means students learn in the classroom and studio as well as in community settings and study abroad programs. Our fundamental charge is to prepare the next generation of designers and planners to strategically address the challenges of a dynamic and rapidly evolving built environment.

The SA+P resides on UTSA’s Downtown Campus, located in the heart of beautiful and historic San Antonio, Texas. San Antonio—along with Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth—comprises one leg of the Texas Triangle, an exploding megaregion whose population will grow from 15 to 25 million residents in the coming decades. The City of San Antonio, already the seventh-largest city by population in the United States, expects to add 1.1 million residents over the next 25 years, making it one of the fastest-growing large cities in the nation.

We are completing renovations of our primary facilities at UTSA’s Downtown Campus and will continue to build programs and infrastructure that support dynamic and interactive educational experiences. The next phase of this process includes the redevelopment of our on-line presence, a project we anticipate completing during the spring semester of 2022.

We hope you will consider visiting or joining us at the UTSA School of Architecture + Planning!

Q&A: Honda Motor Co. is next destination for UTSA grad Eduardo Garcia

When Eduardo Garcia first enrolled in college at Texas A&M International University, he did all the right things. He studied hard, pursued hands-on learning experiences and joined student organizations that aligned with his academic interests. Ultimately, he earned a bachelor’s degree in systems engineering in 2016. This weekend, he’ll cross the Commencement stage to receive his second bachelor’s degree with his fiancé, Leslie, and close family and friends in attendance.
